The Endeavour is the largest and most advanced vessel in the Compact Navy at the time of its launch. Built to test and operate the revolutionary quantum entanglement drive, the Endeavour became the first active-duty ship to travel system-to-system via quantum entanglement, bypassing the limitations of projection drives, hypergates, and even warp.
Drawing heavily from the designs of the Anna Khirovsky and the Hadrian, Endeavour was engineered to be both a diplomatic flagship and a scientific breakthrough. The ship was a joint project between the Navy, Cybercommand, and elements of the Foundation.
Role in Jump
In Jump, Endeavour launches under the command of Captain Alan Darnell, with Davra Andraste as first officer. Its maiden mission is to retrieve Compact Assembly delegates and return them to Tian for an emergency summit. En route, it is attacked by loyalists to President Marcus Leitman and subsequently intercepted by the Yedevans, creators of the entanglement drive.
Captain Darnell is executed by the Yedevans, and Davra assumes command under crisis conditions. She completes the mission, returning the delegates and the ship safely to Tian despite sabotage, political unrest, and technological instability.
Role in Davra’s Endeavour
By 439 IE, Endeavour is formally under the command of Captain Davra Andraste. She commands the ship during a high-level diplomatic mission to the Gelt Throneworld, escorting a Compact delegation aimed at forging a final peace with the Realm following years of war and occupation.
In this capacity, Endeavour functions as both secure transport and a symbolic gesture of trust and capability. The mission includes notable crew members such as JT Austin, Connor Duffy, Shrian Duffy, Ellie Nardino, and Suicide. Eric Yuwono is present during Davra’s commissioning ceremony and later provides intelligence from the ground during a security breach on the Throneworld.
Technical and Structural Details
-
Primary Propulsion: Quantum Entanglement Drive — allows for system-to-system jumps via paired quantum states and dark matter substitution.
-
Secondary Propulsion: EM drive, standard thrusters, and projection drive. Warp systems were not installed due to incompatibility with entanglement tech.
-
Scale: Approximately twice the size of the Anna Khirovsky and Hadrian, with extended deck structures for diplomatic and scientific operations.
-
Design Purpose: Meant to combine strategic rapid deployment, diplomatic hosting, and scientific experimentation in one platform.
Strategic Significance
The Endeavour represents a technological and political milestone for the Compact. With its entanglement-based propulsion, it ends reliance on projection drives and hypergate networks—undermining the Realm’s military logistics and Juno’s manipulation of FTL infrastructure.
Its survival of the Yedevan encounter and successful leadership under Captain Andraste elevated the ship from prototype to diplomatic flagship. In Davra’s Endeavour, its role as peace envoy vessel cements its place in Compact history as a symbol of resilience, progress, and unity.
