Following the events of Davra's Endeavour in 439 IE, Tishla begins work on Gelt amortality and tests the process on herself. The symptoms mirror those of human amortality, but with some wrinkles. Because Gelt skulls are multi-layered, the various layers do not regenerate at the same rate. So, like a Gelt with a head injury, Tishla can hear her skull layers moving. She also experiences stroke-like symptoms, where her ability to extrapolate and speak non-native languages is suppressed for a time, forcing JT to speak in the Mother Tongue. Which is…unpleasant for Gelt to listen to. She eventually recovers, though it takes longer, and Athena tells Tishla she will wait to undergo the procedure herself. Also, because Tishla has drunk some of JT’s blood (which he jokingly calls her “vampire kink”), his Dasarius nanites get ingested, which form a trace of Lizzy‘s consciousness. So now Tishla has a ghost in her head much like JT has had for a decade at this point. When Tishla finally meets his Tessa Dasarius, Tessa tells her it is possible to remove Lizzy from both of them without killing the consciousness off. They begin planning for it.
