Title: Senior Advisor to First Citizen
Bornag is a Gelt Warrior who rose to prominence during the aftermath of the Gelt Incursion of 429 IE, later renamed Hanar. Initially a junior Warrior, Bornag was handpicked by Tishla during the pivotal negotiation with human survivors. At Tishla’s instruction, he stood ready to execute her on the spot if the humans rejected her offer to rebuild the planet together — a moment that defined both his career and his unwavering loyalty to her.
Following the Liberation, Bornag advanced rapidly in rank, eventually becoming a senior officer in charge of Hanar’s security forces. Early in his service, he kept his hair, an unusual choice among Warriors. However, after the establishment of Hanar, he embraced the traditional Warrior custom of having his hair removed and tattooing battle honors onto his scalp. His first tattoo was a portrait of Tishla’s face — a deeply personal and public sign of his allegiance to her leadership.
Bornag’s blend of battlefield discipline and political loyalty made him an essential figure in stabilizing the young, multi-species colony. He is protective of Tishla, often acting as a buffer between her and hostile forces or angry constituents. Despite his Warrior instincts, he values peace and stability, understanding they are crucial to Hanar’s survival.
In Suicide Gambit, Bornag emerges as the steady hand behind Hanar’s survival during its darkest hour. Now visibly older, he has shaved his head and prominently tattooed Tishla’s face among his traditional Warrior markings—a declaration of loyalty that few Gelt would dare wear so openly. Following Trevor Colt’s death during the insurgent coup, Bornag assumes leadership of Hanar’s security forces. When Tishla is forced to flee the planet, he wastes no time in organizing the loyalist response, maintaining civil order, and keeping the Gelt military caste from fracturing under pressure. It is Bornag who ensures that Compact and Republic-aligned forces are able to breach the blockade around Gilead City and reach the besieged parliament. While he remains largely offstage, his presence is critical—holding the line until Tishla can return, and quietly preparing the ground for her restoration. Loyal not just to Tishla, but to the Hanar she envisioned, Bornag proves himself not just a protector, but a statesman in his own right.
