Nobu Katsumoto

Nobu Katsumoto was a radical human separatist and violent insurgent who operated on Hanar following the Gelt invasion. A survivor of the fusion blast that destroyed Gilead City, Katsumoto rejected both Gelt-led governance and any Compact-backed reconstruction efforts. He came to embody a virulent, exclusionary ideology that called for the removal—or extermination—of all non-human presences on the planet, and he viewed any human cooperation with alien powers as betrayal.

By 430 IE, Katsumoto had established one of the most feared separatist factions on Hanar, notorious for its brutality and open rejection of Hanar’s postwar identity. During the events of Half Shell, his followers killed and cannibalized a newly arrived Turtloids, nearly igniting an interstellar incident. Rather than express remorse, Katsumoto offered the killer to the Turtloids as a “gift” and demanded the aliens leave Hanar. His defense—that the shelled species were “not of his kind”—underscored his deep xenophobia and the danger his ideology posed to Hanar’s fragile peace.

Katsumoto’s insurgency reached its end during the events of Suicide Gambit, when he captured Tishla near the ruins of Gilead City after she was shot down. He planned to use her as leverage in the coup’s final phase, but was confronted and killed by JT Austin, who executed him without hesitation. JT then ordered Katsumoto’s head severed—a symbolic gesture of justice and a gift for the Sovereign, echoing Gelt tradition and Realm law. With his death, the last serious human-led threat to Hanar’s postwar future was extinguished, and Katsumoto passed into history as a relic of a hate-fueled past the planet ultimately chose to reject.
