Nemesis was a red dwarf star that orbited Sol System at a distance of two light-years. Its dimness made discovery difficult until well into the Interstellar Era. Like the core world orbiting it, Trantor, the star’s name originates in the works of Isaac Asimov. In the case of the star, the name refers to the novel Nemesis which proposed such a red dwarf orbiting at a similar distance. In honor of Asimov, the first settlement and capital of Trantor was named for him.
