Star System: Kaku

Summary:
Kaku V is a hot, humid Class-E world in the Kaku system, dominated by shallow oceans, swamps, and saturated lowlands. The planet is home to the sapient species known simply as cephelapods, aquatic beings capable of limited land movement and complex social structures. Despite being surveyed by early human expeditions, the native intelligence of the cephelapods was not properly detected, leading to unauthorized human settlement.
The resulting conflict escalated when the settlers, illegally armed with surplus military weapons, clashed violently with the natives, who retaliated with brutal but defensive force. Intervention by Bonapartan Household Guard and Compact Navy Special Forces, including Lieutenant Mitsuko Yamato and Commander Edward Windsor, resulted in the removal of most human settlers.
Following the operation, the Compact moved to quarantine Kaku V, respecting the cephelapods’ sovereignty and preserving the world for its indigenous inhabitants.
