Decius Marfay was a Compact Navy pilot and a covert operative for Juno who served aboard the Endeavour in 439 IE during the events of Davra’s Endeavour. Outwardly, Marfay held the rank of lieutenant and performed flight duties under Captain Davra Andraste. However, his true allegiance lay with Juno, positioning him as a threat hidden in plain sight.
Background and Reputation
Earlier in his career, Marfay crossed paths with JT Austin, who pegged him as a “nub”—green, smug, and undeserving of his rank. JT famously forced him to do push-ups and mop the flight commander’s office, establishing a firm and disdainful dynamic between.
Attempted Abduction and Death
In 439 IE, Marfay revealed his true loyalties when he attempted to abduct Marilyn Germanicus, targeting her as part of a broader Juno plot against the Compact’s posthuman research and legacy. His betrayal culminated in a confrontation with JT Austin, who responded with lethal decisiveness. During the struggle, JT blew out an airlock while both he and Marilyn were still inside, exposing them to vacuum. Marfay was killed instantly; JT and Marilyn survived due to emergency shielding and rapid decompression protocols.
Legacy
Marfay’s death marked one of the last known active Juno infiltrators aboard a major Compact vessel. His exposure and elimination underscored the lingering danger of Juno operatives long after the fall of their founder, Marcus Leitman. Despite his seemingly forgettable demeanor, Marfay’s betrayal represented the continued ideological battle between posthumanism and authoritarian manipulation within the Compact.
