Overview

Cui Jiao-long, callsign Dragon, is a decorated Compact Navy veteran and flight instructor from Tian. Known for his stern demeanor, traditional values, and uncompromising standards, he served aboard the CNV Hancock, a Furious-class carrier with a storied legacy comparable to Earth’s Enterprise. He flew alongside notable officers, including then–Lieutenant Eileen Burke, during some of the Navy’s most intense operations.

Family and Legacy

Jiao-long is the father of Cui Yun, later known by her iconic callsign Suicide. At the time of her birth in 386 IE, he struggled with her small size and quiet disposition, interpreting it as weakness. However, his perspective evolved—especially after his wife Cui Ya challenged his outdated ideals—and he came to view Yun’s defiance and compassion as a strength of its own. His influence would later shape her discipline and skills as a pilot, even if she rebelled against his worldview.

Jiao-long remained active in his daughter’s life and network. In Jump, he loans his personal cabin to newlyweds Connor Duffy and his bride for their honeymoon—a favor done for Suicide, with whom Duffy served.

Later Career

By 432 IE, Cui Jiao-long has transitioned into the role of flight instructor, passing on generations of Naval tradition and tactical expertise to a new wave of pilots. While not a major presence in the political or military drama of the Amargosa conflict, his quiet support and legacy echo through the actions of his daughter and her allies.
