Name: Naomi Maxwell
Species: Human
Affiliation: Cybercommand
Occupation: Executive Assistant to the Director of Black Operations (formerly G-4 Frumentarius)
Overview
Naomi Maxwell served as the razor-sharp assistant to Frumentarius, head of Cybercommand’s black ops division. Behind the scenes of one of the Compact’s most secretive intelligence branches, she functioned as both gatekeeper and logistics mastermind—managing assets, briefing agents, and executing covert operations with unflinching efficiency. While her title suggested administrative support, Naomi was a veteran field agent and a critical force in the smooth execution of black operations.
Background
Maxwell originally operated in the field under the previous HUMINT Director and gained notoriety for accidentally shooting her own partner, Ian Forrest, in the line of duty—a mistake that unexpectedly cemented a deep friendship. After transitioning to analysis and eventually executive operations, she became the indispensable right hand to Frumentarius. Her skillset spanned asset coordination, intelligence analysis, alias construction, and psychological profiling.
Role in Another Way to Die
In Another Way to Die, Naomi builds Eric Yuwono’s cover as “Cody Revix” and arranges his transport and support AI, Effie. She handles field prep with a mix of biting sarcasm and deep competence, demonstrating her unique ability to manage chaos while keeping her agents both on edge and on task.
As the Juno threat escalates, Naomi becomes increasingly central to operations—acting as a stabilizing figure inside Cybercommand amid growing paranoia. Though she often teases Yuwono for his flair and immaturity, their working relationship grows into a mutually respectful dynamic.
Death
Naomi Maxwell is killed in the Campsite blast, a catastrophic bombing that eliminates multiple Cybercommand officials, including Frumentarius. The attack is widely believed to have been orchestrated by Juno operatives embedded within Compact infrastructure. Her death, along with that of her superior, leaves a power vacuum in Cybercommand’s black ops division and further exposes the depth of infiltration Juno achieved within the Compact’s intelligence community.
Yuwono later reflects on Naomi’s loss as both a personal blow and a sign that no one—not even the most experienced and secure—was safe.
