Another Way to Die follows Cybercommand operative Eric Yuwono as he tracks the remnants of JunoCorp, a now-exposed biotech front for the secretive organization Juno. Sent to Bromdar under deep cover, Yuwono infiltrates the corporation’s final known outpost and executes its director, Mr. Caro, uncovering a synthetic pathogen—HSAR-429—believed responsible for the incapacitation of President ibn-Aziz. The virus, a fusion of meningitis and a weaponized form of HIV, signals a new level of threat from Juno, suggesting capabilities far beyond what the Compact believed possible.
With JunoCorp in ruins, Yuwono’s mission shifts to the non-aligned world of Hosh, a city-state surrounded by pristine wilderness and governed by a string of gangster-like rulers. Assuming the identity of black-market chip dealer Cody Revix, he uncovers a failed contact, executes a Juno-linked impostor, and begins unraveling the local ties between Juno, radical Cubist factions, and a figure known only as Mr. Gray. Supported by Effie, a hyper-advanced AI posing as his assistant and pilot, Yuwono’s operation reveals Juno’s expanding influence and reinforces the need for Cybercommand to act preemptively—even if that means leaving no survivors.
