Gelt leaders kept a suicide toxin in a false tooth they could crush if captured. The toxin, a fast-acting bacteria, would sweep through the bloodstream and kill the user almost instantly. However, after the victim died, the bacteria would rapidly liquefy the body, sometimes explosively.
Dr. Ran discovered the bacteria did not affect human tissue nor did it affect native Amargosan life as evidenced by injecting a wuzzle.
The toxin originated in a pathogen that swept the Gelt homeworld of Melekan in one of multiple catastrophes that rendered it a dead world.
