“Jod and the Giant” was a Gelt legend which bore an uncanny similarity to the Earth legend of “Jack and the Beanstalk.” In this story, Jod finds some magic seeds during a famine and buries it in his backyard. Overnight, the tuber spawns a lush garden and saves his village. However, the tuber was dropped by a giant who returns to reclaim it. When he cannot find what he lost, he begins eating villagers until it is returned to him. Jod manages to kill the giant and is rewarded by the villagers, who make him the village lord. (The previous lord having been eaten by the giant.)
The alien Marq referenced this story when explaining the potato to Tishla.
