Storming Amargosa – In Which Kaylee Decides Not To Reverse The Polarity Through The EPS Conduits

Dictation using wax cylinder phonographSo the first 3 days of NaNoWriMo were devoted to…

Salvaging what I needed from the four previous drafts. (Well, 3. Draft 1 was a screenplay, which some people ask me when I’m going to shop. Bwahahahaha!) The goal was to get at least 35,000 words and write 50,000 new ones to tie it all together.

Wanna know how much of the previous drafts survived?

84,000. Before adds and rewrites.

I don’t think NaNoWriMo was the best choice for redoing this novel, nor is turning in a manuscript under 90,000 words. So be it.

I actually started a few days early, trying to put everything I needed in place before NaNoWriMo began on November 1. Sunday morning, I actually created Chapter 1 and rearranged things slightly to maintain the POV rhythm that will carry through most of this story. Early on, this is almost copy edit and proofreading. But already, I see where scenes will have to be rewritten with certain characters present or from their points of view. I’m trying to have only four with a few side trips. So far, it’s working.

But I haven’t had to write new stuff yet.
